I chose this picture because there is an intrinsic message within this image. For many, this is just a kid or a teenager on a train. For someone with Latin American roots, this image portrays the voyage that many poor and socially excluded Latin Americans go through seeking the so-called “American Dream.” There are stories of the famous train that these people ride to get near the border between Mexico and The United States. In their ride, many of these fall from it and become disabled, or even die. The image portrays an early morning with a foggy environment. This symbolizes the uncertainty that thousands, if not millions, have faced travelling through undiscovered territories for them. The harsh and dangerous circumstances that all these people face are unimaginable for most of us. Yet, as you read this, many may be riding this same train in their voyage for the “American Dream.”
